Hooked

Longhorns are number one! Hook ‘em horns!

Sadly, they are not expected to stay number one simply because they’ve played their toughest games and the rest of their season is against poorer teams. But we’ll enjoy it while it lasts and then they’ll win at the Rose Bowl and be officially number one!

Hitch

On a more cheerful note (see earlier post), Turner Classic Movies (TCM) is running Alfred Hitchcock movies all week! To bad I missed them all tonight!

If you’re in suspense (ha-ha) check out their scheduled Hitchcock movies. I’ll be watching.

To err is human, to really foul up…

…you need a computer! I have spent most of the evening trying to get the compression software, specifically StuffIt Deluxe 8.5 for Windows, on my computer to work! I have run the repair feature, I have uninstalled—this caused other problems and I had to run System Restore, then I had to uninstall again, then I [...]

Being Julia

I watched Being Julia after a friend recommended it. I was bored. I’m not sure if I was bored because I watched the movie in bits and pieces over several days or if the movie was just boring. Here’s how I’d break the movie down:

Annette Bening (a friend’s former babysitter) as Julia: Very good.
Julia’s paramour: [...]

Licensespotting

License plate spotted today: OH WHY ME

It just made me smile. You too, maybe?

Money, Space, and Time

If you’ve got some spare cash, space, and time you might enjoy spending them on the new Warner Classics Mega Collection. For only $1,449.98 you can own these 237 DVDs!

If you decide to make the investment, I hope you have more storage space than I do. And once they are purchased and stored, all [...]

Pounds Away

Tonight I’m several pounds lighter! Well, actually, my house is several pounds lighter—or rather, there are fewer pounds left in the house. I’ve been de-cluttering! I hate de-cluttering, but I like the results of it. I’m trying to keep myself motivated to get rid of the 12+ years of clutter in my house. In the [...]

Pheasant Call

We had an unusual visitor in the neighborhood today. A pheasant!

I managed to get a few pictures of it pacing my next-door neighbor’s fence. (Click on image to go to Flickr for a better view of the wonderful colors in its neck!)

I didn’t want to get too close and my camera [...]

Zits

No! Not those zits! The comic strip Zits!

If you have access to today’s Zits comic strip, it has a thoughtful (pun intended) laugh about blogging. Unfortunately, I can’t find an online copy to share. And I don’t have a working scanner, so I can’t even contemplate loading an illegal copy myself. Sorry.

If you can’t find [...]

I want to be like Jane

Have you ever wanted to write like Jane Austen? (Yes, I know, dream on.) Well, now you can, sort of…. You might not be able to emulate her prose, but your computer can now copy her handwriting. Download the Jane Austen handwriting font at this site. I haven’t tried it, but maybe it would improve [...]
