Censure to the Center of the Earth

Tonight was dinner and a movie with some friends I haven’t seen in a while. We had good conversation and food, and then settled in to watch the 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice since not everyone had seen it.

I got a good laugh from the closed captioning goof in the snip below. In the [...]

Dog and Squirrel Day™

Since I’ve complained here about some of our crummy weather days, I think it’s only proper that I celebrate our beautiful weather days…and today was a great one!

It was sunny, with some clouds, and the temperature was in the mid- to high-60s… FABULOUS!!!! It was so warm that Reggie actually started panting in the [...]

An Apple a Day …

… keeps the iPod battery at bay!

Microsoft has been pounded this past week for delaying the release of the next version of Windows. Personally, I don’t care when they release it, I’ll hold off upgrading until absolutely necessary. But at least Microsoft admitted it!

On the other hand there is Apple Computer. Good ole Apple who [...]

Give Rushmore a Lift

For some reason I thought about Mt. Rushmore last night. I’ve never seen Mt. Rushmore in person, but I’d like to some day. Instead, I’ve had to settle for pictures and Alfred Hitchcock’s reproduction as seen in North by Northwest.

But last night, as I drifted off to sleep, I started thinking: "Which four presidents [...]

Family Affairs

My uncle is visiting from Houston. We don’t get to see him as often as we used to, so it’s wonderful to spend time with him again. He’s taken my father geocaching and they found a few treasures. As you might guess, one of the things we’ve done is talk about years past…stories when we [...]

Apollo 13

The movie Apollo 13 is on cable TV right now. Is it just me or is this movie much more difficult to watch since the space shuttle Columbia disaster? Especially near the end of the movie where they are explaining the heat shields and re-entry. I don’t think many of us need that explanation any [...]

You Know You’re A Chicagoan (Part 1)

It’s snowing again. It’s March 23 and it is snowing. And…it’s sticking to the ground. It’s supposed to snow tomorrow also. It’s not a lot of snow, but still it’s snowing. Why?

Because this is Chicagoland!

And, you know you’re a Chicagoan if…

You know why to "wait five minutes."
You think 35 degrees is great weather to [...]

NBC has a new show on tonight called Heist. I haven’t heard any reviews about the show, but it stars Dougray Scott and Steve Harris. Dougray did an excellent job as the lead in the movie, Enigma, which I blogged about here and here. And Steve was always fun to watch on The Practice.

I don’t [...]

Somebody out there is just not listening! And I think that’s rude. Plain and simple rude!

Did I not already blog about the annoyances of upgrades and re-releases? Yes, I did! Here’s the link. And allow me to quote myself:

"But that isn’t enough. Upgrading products to get my money is one annoyance, but there’s also the [...]

Monitoring Customer Service (or lack there of)

I’ve been converting a lot of Word documents into web-based training (WBT) lately and my left wrist isn’t enjoying the excitement. Too many Alt+Tab, Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V, Alt+Shift+S, and Ctrl+S key punches as I move content from Word to Dreamweaver. So I’ve decided to get a new, but small and inexpensive second monitor so I can [...]
