I had various things planned for this weekend, but after struggling the last few days with fuzzy-brain syndrome from cold–I decided recovery was a priority. However, I did still manage some fun.
Friday night I installed a bluetooth adapter on my computer (late adaptation, I know)–and it worked! Cool. And it paired with the cell phone [...]

Today I went to Panera Bread Company for a late soup lunch and a place to work with fewer distractions than I can create or find in my home. While I was there, a woman sitting near me started annoying the rest of us as she talked loudly on her cell phone. I put in [...]

I noticed something odd when I opened a package of new retractable ball-point pens. The tip of each pen has a plastic "cap." This picture shows the black pen, still wearing its pen-head sized cap, but the cap of the red pen has been forced off with my fingernail–it wasn’t as easy as you’d expect. [...]

I seem to be aping, or at least mentioning, EEK a lot on this blog lately. And I have to do it again–he’s posted a clever and fun "Ladies of Pride and Prejudice" poll. Based on my results, shown below, I’m most like Lizzy. This is a great relief to not be Mary or Kitty [...]

I’ve seen this fun 3-d sidewalk art by Julian Beever a few times, most recently on E.E. Knight’s blog, but it’s so fun–it’s worth repeating! (NOTE: There were a few more images at this link, but it isn’t working right this moment. Give it a try in case they get it up again.)
I think a [...]

The Chicago Tribune is running a fun and informative series called the "7 Blunders of Chicago." Today’s blunder, the 3rd in the series, is the Great Chicago Flood of 1992 that caused an estimated $800 million in damages and lost business. Yeah, a bit of a blunder that.
The article is an interesting read detailing exactly [...]

For those of use fortunate enough (ha-ha) to live in Illinois and those who might, sadly, have to suffer driving here…there are some new laws on their way. Put another way, "Big Brother Illinois is Watching."
Beginning in July the State of Illinois will use speed
cameras in areas designated as "Work Zones" on major freeways. [...]

A friend just sent me the following in an email. I thought it was accurate enough to include here:
Mujibar was trying to get a job in
India.
The Personnel Manager said, "Mujibar, you have passed all the tests, except one. Unless you pass it you cannot qualify for this job."
Mujibar said, "I am ready."
The manager said, "Make [...]

The other day I commented that I remembered the long, long halls of Key Elementary School where I attended kindergarten and first grade. Then I started wondering, why do I remember these halls? Here’s why:
This is a picture of me roughly the time I attended Key Elementary. Unfortunately, this is a bad scan. My hair [...]
