…And I got this perfect postcard (click for bigger view!):
Why is it perfect? So glad you asked!
- It shows they were thinking of me. Ahhhh. (Sad news about Costa Rica postal system, and perhaps the U.S. system also, my friends have been home over a week, but the card arrived yesterday!!)
- Like the Red Eyed Leaf Frog in the postcard…I’ve had red eyes the last week! To put it simply, I’ve had conjunctivitis, a.k.a. allergy pink eye!
My eyes never looked as wicked as froggie, but they’ve felt awful! This year has been so mild on my allergies until a few weeks ago when BAM they hit me hard. For the first time in my life the allergies really, really hit my eyes. It took me a few days to figure out what was wrong, because I’ve never had pink eye of any type and because my eyes were never as bad looking as the pink-eye pictures I found on the Internet.
At first I treated the self-diagnosed problem with both oral and eye-drop antihistamines. This really helped, so the strong discomfort ended over the weekend, but the problem wouldn’t leave. Also, the oral antihistamines made me groggy during the day. So today I went to the eye doctor. It was one of those wait-30-minutes-to-see-the-doctor-for-less-than-3-minutes appointments–you know what I’m talking about! He confirmed allergy pink eye and gave me stronger eye drops. Here’s hoping these clear up the issue A.S.A.P. and pray this is a once in a lifetime discomfort!!!
By the way, for those of you in a panic because you’ve been near me recently…this type of pink eye is NOT, repeat NOT, contagious! Thank goodness. Unfortunately, it also hits both eyes!
