I wish the Super Bowl had been today. Not because we’d know the outcome. Not because I could have watched. Not because I’m cheering for the hometown Chicago Bears. Nope. I wanted the game to be today…so that it would be over! I’m so sick of hearing about the great Bears! I’ve been sick of [...] Thirty years ago today Chicago Cub Rick Monday rescued an American flag! I remember that day–do you? Two people ran onto the field at Dodger Stadium, unfurled the American flag, doused it in fluid, and tried to set it on fire. Rick Monday ran across the field and snatched the flag away from them. The event [...] Ever since I blogged about Skating with Celebrities, I’ve been getting hits from people searching Lloyd Eisler and Kristy Swanson who have been paired for this TV show. But these aren’t just hits looking for information about their skating (or lack there of) or for pictures or for biographical information or for their zodiac signs [...] "Skating is very, very hard, possibly even harder than hoofing,…" No! You think? Of all things, that’s a quote from a Chicago Tribune mini-review of a new Fox television show called "Skating with Celebrities." As previously mentioned here, "Skating" appears to be a "copy" of ABC’s "Dancing with the Stars"–thus the skating/hoofer comparison in the quote. [...] Well bother. I guess I’ll have to have nice thoughts about Aggies for a day…or at least not tell Aggie jokes. ;-) Don’t mess with Texas!
If you lived in the U.S. this summer you had a hard time not hearing about ABC’s out-of-the-blue smash hit "Dancing with the Stars." The concept of the show, started in the U.K., was B-list celebrities dancing with professional ballroom dancers in a live competition spread over several weeks. I never really watched the show, [...] The city of Chicago has announced that the celebration parade and ceremony for the World Series Champs will be tomorrow, Friday, not Monday as originally planned and scheduled. Is this because everyone is eager to celebrate and drool over the players? No, of course not. The reason for the change: “…because a lot of the [...] I just read that the NFL might move the New Orleans Saints football team to Los Angeles if rebuilding efforts fail in New Orleans. Wow! Another slap for poor New Orleans! They’ve barely started drying out, let alone re-building, and the NFL is looking at a bigger city, which of course, is a bigger cash [...] The White Sox just won the World Series sweeping the Houston Astros in four games! Eighty-eight years in the making! Congrats to the team! Next year: Cubs!! |
