The temperature has been well below freezing for a week and is forecast to get worse this weekend. A temperature above freezing is not soon to come…they predict. Today the snow fell and fell and fell. Tonight the snow is falling faster. My car has been in and out of the shop the past 10 days. [...] Update: Life has interfered and I haven’t even transferred the pictures to a computer yet. Both Reggie and the car are sick, and I don’t know how I’m going to get help for both. Even getting them to the right locations won’t solve their problems…I might be carless for days and days because of the [...] It snowed last Thursday, but just flurries. It snowed yesterday, way more than flurries! Today, well here’s today weather: I didn’t let this stop me! No sir! I managed to rescue the newspaper from the curb! Autumn, or shall we say fall, used to be my favorite season. I just love the colors!
We don’t get a lot of red leaves in the Chicago area, instead we get lots of yellow, so when I see red…I have to snap it.

Put it in your calendar, on Feb. 10, 2009 it was a beautiful day in the Chicago-area. Yay! The forecast was for a high of 62F (16.7C) and I think we reached and went beyond that! I'd say [...] We had a shockingly beautiful, sunny, and warm day here in Chicagoland. It got up into the high 40s/low 50s. For the second time this winter season, over a foot of snow melted in about 24 hours. This time the temperature jump was not accompanied by rain and I haven't heard about any flooding. However, [...] My parents took me to see an elephant today. This is about 1.5 blocks from my parent’s home. It’s apparently been on the local news, but I never saw it. I wish I had seen it before it started to melt; nevertheless, it’s still very impressive! I’m afraid it will be completely gone in a few [...] This is my windshield from inside the car. We were trying to run errands before the worst of the ice and snow storm hit on Dec. 19, 2008, but the moisture and cold in the air caused the windshield to glaze over. I've never seen it do this before. We had to sit in the [...] It doesn't snow in the U.K. as often as it does here in the Chicago-area, but they just had a whopper storm. Don't worry, I'm not going to suggest they get a little flinty Chicago toughness. There are lots of pictures on the Internet of kids having fun, commuters suffering in the delays, and famous [...] Look at the 38 degree swing from the low to the high! Whew! But we'll take that high any day in January! And the sun even shown to help the celebrating! And this evening the moon was fantastic.
It's back. I decided to skip a visit to the grocery tonight…I didn't want to get out of the car again till I got home. Could we please have this weather back?
The forecast for today is that we won't see 0° F (-17.778° C) and it will be the coldest day in a decade. I decided to track it for history…or to make it feel even worse!!!! At midnight: That's -2° F (-18.889° C). The wind chill is a balmy -22° F (-30° C). We're off to [...] I took these pictures on Sept. 18, but then forgot about them so I'm back dating this post. Again, here's how it looked during the rains:
And a few days later…this water receded pretty quickly.
At least the ducks were happy…
But this road was closed for 1.5 weeks after the rain. Even after it was opened, the water [...] The waters are receding in some locations, but going up in other areas.
