Here’s what it looked like at 8:30′ish: Raging Winds and Snows. Then it got worse and I wasn’t going to stick my camera out the door!
And some joy (ha) from the snow. Pictures of the 3rd Worst Storm in Chicago history (aka, my worst blizzard, if I remember correctly). Since we [...] It snowed last Thursday, but just flurries. It snowed yesterday, way more than flurries! Today, well here’s today weather: I didn’t let this stop me! No sir! I managed to rescue the newspaper from the curb! That’s the same costume I wore to salvage the paper on this bitter day. I should have taken a picture of [...] We had a shockingly beautiful, sunny, and warm day here in Chicagoland. It got up into the high 40s/low 50s. For the second time this winter season, over a foot of snow melted in about 24 hours. This time the temperature jump was not accompanied by rain and I haven't heard about any flooding. However, [...] This is my windshield from inside the car. We were trying to run errands before the worst of the ice and snow storm hit on Dec. 19, 2008, but the moisture and cold in the air caused the windshield to glaze over. I've never seen it do this before. We had to sit in the [...] Look at the 38 degree swing from the low to the high! Whew! But we'll take that high any day in January! And the sun even shown to help the celebrating! And this evening the moon was fantastic.
The forecast for today is that we won't see 0° F (-17.778° C) and it will be the coldest day in a decade. I decided to track it for history…or to make it feel even worse!!!! At midnight: That's -2° F (-18.889° C). The wind chill is a balmy -22° F (-30° C). We're off to [...] The waters are receding in some locations, but going up in other areas. Here's the picture I posted on the 13th during the rains. Here's an update. Unfortunately, I didn't angel the picture in the same direction. The tree in the picture below is the front far left tree in the picture above. Sorry about that, [...] My cousin's home inland from Beaumont is okay, but that entire area will be without electricity for some time. The grid is under floodwater. My cousin's husband has been building them a second home on the Galveston peninsula. They haven't been able to get to this home, but have seen it on a web cam. [...] About 4:35 this morning I thought I was on a boat. I was softly rocking back and forth. My bed and I were softly rolling over waves on a quiet sea…WAIT…my bed is neither water safe nor a flotation device. "Oh, we’re having an earthquake." WAIT…an earthquake? No. It must be a dream. Reggie didn’t react, but [...] No picture this time. I’ve been inside working all day, so I didn’t have to rough the weather other than the difficult job of shoveling very wet snow. My next door neighbors saw a car slide into an intersection and heard the metal crunching as two cars collided. Nobody was hurt…thankfully. As much as I’m sick–really [...] |
